* and wife

By Andrew Cleare: The church was full, well over 100 people, mostly from the church. Roger and the his circle were clearly well loved and appreciated there. Mary's eulogy was very clearly and competently given. She mentioned the important periods in Roger's life and the people that mattered to him in each. These included RHS, his railway career, his family life and the church life, particularly after retirement when he was increasingly involved. Roger was buried with his wife Margaret, who died in 1994, at Lavender Hill Cemetery on the other side of Enfield from the church. It was bitterly cold in the wind. To the few of us not familiar with the RC rite it seemed rather longer than the Anglican practice. Afterwards the wake was at the pub opposite the church. The RHS group gathered round a table to eat and await Roger's family as they circulated. Roy was able to give them some prints that were much appreciated. All in all a good, if sad, occasion - Andrew
